The Perfect Oatmeal Raisin Cookie
Here's Smitten Kitchen's recipe, but stay tuned for my adjustments:
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together. Stir this into the butter/sugar mixture. Stir in the oats, raisins and walnuts, if using them. At this point, you can bake, but if you prefer to have thicker, chewier cookies, chill for at least 20 minutes before you scoop.
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 10-12 minutes, depending on how long you chilled the cookies. When edges start to turn golden brown, pull out of oven, and let sit on baking sheet for another 5 minutes before transferring them to a rack to cool.
This recipe is for a half batch of cookies, because otherwise I’d eat the whole batch in one sitting. It’s also a good base recipe for using up other random baking ingredients in your cupboard.And to liven things up, try replacing theraisin-walnut combo with:

Cucumbers are high in antioxidants and in vitamins C and K, which means they combat inflammation and aging.Cukes also have lots of vitamin A (natural retinol), which will even your skin tone and help you glow. Coffee is full of antioxidants and healthy oil for your skin. You’re going to be using a little bit of brewed coffee for this recipe, since I know you have some every day (you junkie). This recipe is slightly advanced but still really fun.
½ cup cooled coffee
½ peeled cucumber, roughly chopped
1 sheet kombu seaweed
Add the coffee and cucumber to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour mixture into a shallow bowl and add the sheet of seaweed. Soak until it is completely rehydrated. To apply, first put cotton into the cuke and coffee mixture and dab it on your skin. Then tear the kombu into strips and firmly press them all over your face, focusing on the under-eye area, forehead, nose, and any dry patches. Leave on and hang out, making sure to scare as many people as possible while you look like an underwater monster. When finished, peel off and discard strips of kombu and rinse clean. When you see how amazing your skin looks, feel free to toss the gross drugstore “pore strips” from your cabinet. Makes one use.

]]>When my husband, Will, told me he was going to be working from home for at least the next two weeks, I was like LOL welcome to the chaos, babe! I’ve been working from home with our 10 month old, Liam, ever since returning from maternity leave and I think it’s kinda great Will is getting a glimpse into that now. It’s messy, it’s crazy, it’s overwhelming, it’s all-consuming, it’s freaking hard – and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Now that many of us are quarantined with kids and trying to work from home, it’s comforting to me that my struggles weren’t imaginary or invalid. So many people are expressing the same hardships that I’ve felt for the past 7 months. And so many people are offering their tips and support. During a time of physical isolation, I actually feel way more connected. We’re all navigating through new, scary circumstances, just trying to do our best to keep life “normal”.
But like many moms, I’ve been trying to figure out what “normal” is ever since Liam was born. Balancing work and life is hard when there’s no physical separation between the two. I constantly feel like I’m failing at something. It’s honestly impossible to accomplish everything I want to do each day. In my short time as a new parent, I’ve had to learn that I can’t do it all and that doesn’t make me a failure. It hasn’t been easy to accept but my mental health totally depends on it. I for sure haven’t mastered working from home with the babe yet but I’ve found a few things to be really helpful.
It’s totally fine that not every single item on the list will get done but writing down the things I hope to accomplish each day clears my head. Having a kid at home makes my brain go in 100 different directions. The to do list allows me to prioritize things, pick one thing at a time, and truly focus on that thing. Even though the whole list is rarely checked off, checking off even some of the list is satisfying. It’s a reminder that I did get things done and I can be proud of that.
I’m not great at doing this consistently but, hey, I’m trying! If I take a few minutes Monday morning to write down my big goals for the week, I’m a lot more likely to stay focused on them. These are the big picture things that help me set my intention for the week. I like to have a personal one and a work related one.
This is the hardest one for me. Liam’s 10 months old so his routine still changes a lot. But I know – roughly – when he’s going to wake up, when he’s going to fall asleep, when he naps (ha not really), and when he eats. I usually look at my to do list and I schedule my highest priority task for Liam’s morning nap time.
The schedule I plan gets thrown off a little most days, so I remind myself to stay flexible. I can’t control everything with a 10 month old and that’s okay.
This is one thing that I don’t bend on. I take my dog, Banks, out to the dog park or on a short hike with Liam every day and it honestly saves me. It clears my head, it makes me happy, it’s one of the very few times during the day that I unplug. Whenever I feel like I’m completely overwhelmed and close to a meltdown, I get out. Stepping away from everything might seem like the worst idea when you have a billion things to do but it makes me more productive in the long run. Plus, it’s one of the few ways to still safely get out of your home during quarantine. If getting outside isn’t an option, do something that allows you to unplug and get away from your desk – or kitchen table or whatever your desk has become post coronavirus.
I hate asking for help. I hate putting things on other people and I hate feeling like I can’t do it all. I’m working on it. But seriously, ask for help. If there’s not an opportunity to ask someone else for help, help yourself in whatever way you can. Take a break. Step away. Order delivery instead of making dinner. Let your kid have that extra screen time so you can breathe.
Most importantly, I’m trying to learn how to slow things down, accept that things have changed, and that doing my best is enough. Give into this work from home/quarantine situation. The anxiety and fear is no joke right now – so take care of yourself, hug your kids a little longer, play a little harder, and slow it down.

]]>Don't get scared, get DIY'ing. Here's a simple recipe for a hand sanitizer that meets the CDC requirements, plus some alternative options!
If you're going to DIY, you should keep some of the following guidelines in mind:
First of all, the .
Second, use rubbing alcohol/isopropyl alcohol, which is different from the alcohol you drink (aka "ethanol").
Third, the rubbing alcohol that's sold in stores is already diluted to alevel that will be printed on the label (often it's 70%, 91%, or 95%).So, keep in mind thatyou'll have to adjust for that dilution to get your final product to 60% alcohol.
At IJվ, weare excited about the research showing that essential oils (and lots of other natural ingredients)can be effectiveat killing some bacteria and viruses. We even wroteabout it. That's why we added essential oils to this formula to supplement the sanitizing power of the alcohol, and we recommend them in your DIYs and around your house in general. We used clove oil, eucalyptus oil, and tea tree oil, but feel free totryany from this list:
-oregano oil
-tea tree oil
-clove oil

-thyme oil
-fennel oil

And make your essential oil blend no more than .5-1% total of your formulations.Here's the blend we used in our hand spray at the maximum dilution for a 2 ounce bottle.

1. Convert measurements based on size of bottle. (Note: 1 tablespoon = . 5 fluid ounce.)
2. Measure and pour in thealcohol (if you don't have equipment to measure the exact right amount, feel free just to round up onthe alcohol; you can always use less lavender hydrosol)
3. Measure and pour in the lavender hydrosol
4. Dropper essential oils blend, 6 drops is .5% of a 2 ounce bottle, and 12 drops is 1%.
5. Shake well.
Shake well and spritz, leave time to dry. This product does not replace hand washing, it is an additional supplement to everything you're already doing right.

]]>Meditating is extremely difficult and extremely simple at the same time. To me, all that meditation means is doing nothing. Or asclose to nothing as possible for as long as you can. That’s it. Everything else that happens while you’re meditating is PART of meditating. There is no doing it wrong, there is no end goal. It is uncomfortable, as if every second is one mental bicep curl and you’re exhausted 15 reps in. You will get stronger, but most of the time it will feel like work because just like any practice or discipline, it is work.
What this work looks like in practice can include: Finding quiet. Sitting down. Closing your eyes. Taking deep breaths over and over. Saying a mantra over and over. Being mindful of your presence in your surroundings. Feeling sensations in the body. Listening to guidance. Movement and posing and stretching.
All of that is right, and it’s what we commonly hear as being meditation. What I have found in my own practice is that you can meditate with your eyes open, while doing things, while there is noise and distraction, for very short spurts at a time, in an extremely chaotic way, and it’ll still work.
I believeconnecting with your breath in the shower for thirty seconds can leave you as calm and collected and happy as deep two-hour sessions. And I believe that if all of us could do any version of this, our entire lives would be better.

For me,there was a period of time where I wanted to meditate but just couldn’t get myself to do it even though for years I had made myself do yoga while hating it the whole time. What finally got me meditatingwas that I reached a point where I didn't just want to meditate,I needed to. I felt like I was quite literally losing my mind and was horrified of what that meant. I studied Transcendental Meditation and Reiki and now I meditate every single day--sometimes for minutes and sometimes for hours. And I have found that all that matters is that you do it. That’s it.
Here are the steps to make it easiest to start:
It is painful and difficult and yes it may make you anxious at first. It’s very common to get frustrated because you feel like you cannot quiet your mind or your body. It can feel physically impossible to sit still. Sometimes, even if lying down, you’ll feel physical pain from holding still. It’s bananas. (Sad spoiler alert: these “symptoms” never go away. Well maybe for monks they do, but for me they appear whenever they feel like it, regularly.)
Breathing will help the physical symptoms. Mantras help the mental ones. But the point is, for every minute you are doing it, it’s working. Take deep, slow breaths and focus on nothing else for one minute, that’s probably more than you’ve breathed in a while. Spend 20 minutes straight mentally screaming at your second grade bully for something you really could have sworn you were over, you’re healing. Let your children, pets, partners, roommates, or family interrupt you over and over, you’re learning patience. Use it to fall asleep and nothing else, you’ll get better sleep. It’s all working.
And in my experience, the best part of “it’s working” besides that amazing list above is that very, very slowly, you learn to watch your mind. Observe it. Actuallylisten to it and learn to noticeits patterns. You hear how silly it can be.Give it time to freak out and then give it time to calm down. And when you do that over and over and over, even in little bits, you learn to accept the waves of your thoughts and emotions as just that—waves that come and go and vary in intensity. You start to see those waves everywhere, and then you learn to accept those too.
So seriously. If you’re like me and are even a little bit worried about holding it together while everything feels like it’s unraveling—I promise this will help tremendously. Set a stopwatch. See how it goes. We’re lucky if we even have a minute to set aside for this, and how heartbreaking that this is the world we live in. Remind yourself that resting your mind is a luxury that you should take for yourself, even one minute at a time.

]]>What is maskne?
Maskne is acne caused by wearing a mask. Wearing a mask creates a hot, humid environment that disrupts your skins natural protective barrier and allows bacteria to thrive. Irritation from masks rubbing up against your skin can also intensify acne, rosacea, and other skin conditions. Not fun but keep that mask on because gettingcorona is even less fun!
Masks and Mask Care
One of the first ways to help prevent maskne is by picking out a good mask and taking good care of it. Disposable masks are often the most breathable but not always the most practical. As far as reusable masks go, try to avoid irritating synthetic fabrics such as polyester or nylon. Masks made of 100% cotton are effective protection against the virus and much gentler on the skin. Make sure your mask fits nice and snug too! It helps protect against the virus and keeps the mask from rubbing too much against your skin. Win, win!
Keeping reusable masks clean is also super important! Think of masks like underwear – they should be washed after each use. Having a few good masks in your rotation makes this a lot easier. Try using a fragrance free detergent to keep irritationto a minimum.
Skin Care
The best prevention for maskne is to keep our skin care real simple! Fewer ingredients and gentler natural skincare products means less chance of irritation. It’s all about finding the balance between keeping your skin clean and moisturized, without overdoing it. And we totally got you covered 😊
It’s a good idea to cleanse before your mask goes on and once it comes off. OurCleanser is super gentle and, because it's soap free, it's great for all this extra cleansing we’re doing. It’s going to bust through all that excess bacteria and buildup, without stripping away that natural protective barrier. Micellar waters or even just water are great cleansing options too!
When you have to wear a mask for prolonged periods of time and giving your face a full wash isn’t convenient, our Rosewaterwill come to the rescue. It fights bacteria while ittones, and lightly moisturizes. Spritz it on your face when you have a second to take your mask off and it will help keep your skin clean and refreshed throughout the day. Plus it’s like a little aromatherapy moment!
If you’re using anything with active ingredients like retinol, try to apply those things at night to limit irritation. Masks can intensify product absorption into the skin and these ingredients are already pretty intense! (Or opt for something a little gentler right now, like one of our Serums.)
Don’t forget to keep your skin moisturized. It will help protect your skin from the rubbing of your mask against your face. It’s a good idea to use something lightweight like a serum or gel in the morning and save your heavy duty moisturizers for nighttime.
Maskne Treatment
Even when our natural skin care game is on point, maskne happens. It’s still best to keep things simple when treating it. Using a gentle toner can help a lot. Our Toner is basically maskne’s worst nightmare. It will gently unclog pores,fightacne, and balance the pH of your skin AKA return it back to its happy place 😊. Toning after that mask comes off is the perfect time.
You can also do some fun, soothing DIY treatments. Your kitchen can be your skin's best friend. Mixing together a little cinnamon with a scoop of honey is a great DIY mask that’s both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.

]]>The past few have been hellish for us as founders, small-business owners, employees, and just humans. The election of Trump in 2016, with all of its blatant fear-mongering and dehumanizations didn’t feel like something new, but it did feel like something imminently dangerous. I remember, after panicking about minority rights and civil rights, starting to fall into a deep anxiety about the future of small business.
It already felt impossible to start and run a small business in America and since then, over the past four years, I’ve watched our business almost unravel from the complete lack of infrastructure and community in this nation’s manufacturing and distribution economy. BEFORE the global crisis that is Covid, we struggled to have vendors meet their deadlines, to get our massive business partners to understand how to work with a small company like ours, and to not be taken advantage of by middle men at every step along the way. It has been exhausting and frustrating and twelve years in, we still question ourselves all day, every single day.
I’ve always understood that running a business is harder for me because I’m a woman and I wasn’t lucky enough to launch with a million-dollar loan from daddy. But the Black Lives Matter movement revealed to me something that I should have already been understood: just how much harder it could have been for me. The less privilege you have, the more difficult all of those struggles are. In many cases, they become insurmountable.
My hope is that we can use all of the difficult lessons we’ve learned at IJվ to help, in whatever small way we can, to raise up more diverse voices in the natural products space and to add to a spirit of cooperation not cutthroat competition among small, independent brands. That’s why we’re committing to our new IJվ x Collabs project.
Since having this idea, I’ve been stalking brands and having conversations with so many new people. It was truly the best part of 2020. I got to meet so many great makers and founders all over the country and work together to development amazing new products with them while ALSO trying to start or save or grow our own businesses while ALSO trying to survive our realities.

]]>Inevitably it alters the rest of my day, causing a little peach pit of anxiety to form in the middle of my chest that I end up taking with me into everything else I do. So, in an effort to mindfully chip away at my phone addiction, I’ve been taking advantage of some of the features Apple includes with the iPhone to help with this exact problem. (Which of course is a little like if RJ Reynoldsincludednicotine patches with every pack of Camels, but I digress.)
Here are a couple ways you can use your iPhone to combat your iPhone addiction: InSettings > Screen Time, you’ll find a couple great features for curbing your phone addiction: App Limits and Downtime. (For you Android users,.)
App Limits does exactly what it says: It lets you select certain apps or categories of apps and set your own limits on them. If I’m playing too much Candy Crush, for instance, I can set it so that I’m only allowed 30 minutes of Candy Crush a day.
Downtime is basically App Limits in reverse. It disables apps on your phone for a certain, scheduled period of time. The nice thing about Downtime is that you can decide which apps are never blocked. For instance, text messages and phone calls can still get through while Downtime is scheduled.
What’s been working for me is to set my Downtime so that only texts, phone calls, podcasts, and my run-tracking app are allowed during morning hours that I would normally spend swiping through the nightmare news of the day. Now, instead, I get up, maybe find a podcast that I want to listen to, and go for a morning run. It’s been amazing. I have more energy and a lot more patience for the things that come up during the day.
Which isn’t to say that my doomscrolling addiction is all fixed. I’ve got a long way to go. I still expect marauding hordes of white nationalist cannibal zombies to begin rampaging at any second, but at least, if they do, I’ve managed to squeeze in a bit of exercise first!
]]>1. Practice Yoga
When my kids were really little, the transition to bedtime was a 3-ring circus every night. Getting them to take a moment to calm down and relax was always a challenge, so after snacks and changing into PJs, we would take 10 minutes to read . This colorful book walks you through several easy yoga poses and meditations, in a way that helps kids stretch out some excess energy and prepare for sleep. My daughter was always excited to practice her tree pose!
2. Go for a Walk
In the summer, my kids love to go for walksin the park. This is a great opportunity to teach kids about mindfulness, being conscious of the world around them. On the way we’ll talk about the trees and flowers we see or count the rabbits on all the front lawns in the neighborhood. We listen for new bird calls and watch for the signs of changing seasons. A simple walk around the neighborhood canhelp kids learn the joys ofbeingpresent.
3. Read a Book
Sometimes self-care is as simple as taking a few minutes for yourself to read a book you love. was a favorite in our house. With beautiful illustrations and an adorable story about Gerald the Giraffe who just wants to dance, it’s a great opportunity to have a conversation with your children about embracing what makes you happy, no matter what the world tells you.
4. DIY Spa Day
Once a month, my daughter and I have DIY spa day. We get out our foot baths and mix up a mud mask. We love using the French Green Clay Mask, and she loves to add a little bit of honey, because it smells soooo good! It’s a great opportunity for us to get to spend some down time together, and practice taking moments in life to care for ourselves.
5. Share a Movie Night
Friday nights in our house are movie night, and my kidslook forward to picking out something to watch every week. One favorite is Pixar’s Inside Out. With beautiful animation and music, and a fantastic lesson about allowing yourself to feel your feelings, it’s a great opportunity to talk with kids about how they feel, and what they do when they feel upset, angry, or sad. It’s important to learn at a young age how to express emotions in healthy ways, and don’t forget the popcorn!
6. Listen to Music Together
One thing that I have really tried to share with my children is my love of music, and how it can make you feel. We are constantly sharing new music with each other. It’s a great opportunity to open up conversations about the stories told, and the emotions felt. My kids love sharing their music discoveries with me and finding common ground in the music I listen to. Try building a shared playlist with your kids. Include music they learn in school, songs you loved growing up, and fun new musicthat you can alldance to together!
These may seem like little things, but these practices can help your children develop healthy habits for the future. It will help them become more independent and understand how to take care of themselves to be healthy and happy in the future!

While with sourdough I don’t think there is any replacement for simply baking, baking, and baking again to learn subtle techniques like how to shape or how to gauge the nuances in proof time or gluten strength or hydration levels, the resources below might be helpful if, like for all of us right now, you can’t necessarily get elbow-to-elbow with an expert who can show you the subtleties of the art.

The basics of making a starter from scratch won’t vary too much from recipe to recipe. (Although there are versions that add ways of kickstarting the wild yeast production, as in .) These three recipes do a good job of, from the beginning, introducing the notion that sourdough is an art requiring attention to subtle variations in what will be your own unique starter.
Feeding a Starter
It ain’t rocket science, but . I like this one because it doesn’t treat feeding a sourdough starter as if it’s a science project where every gram and degree Fahrenheit has to be perfectly calibrated. As I tell every newbie I talk to: If you want to be exact, go for it, but it’s not mandatory and, long run, it’s way more important for you to get an instinct for the right look and feel than it is to bust out your TI-85 every time you bake.

Making (& Mastering) Your First Loaf
and I always recommend it with one major caveat: Your first loaf IS GOING TO SUCK. It’s unavoidable. More than likely your dough is going to stick to your countertop and all over your hands when you shape, it’s not going to turn out of your proofing basket, and once you take your bread out of the oven, it’s going to look like an amber hockey puck. Congratulations! You’re human and you just learned a ton. Now, try to make the exact same recipe again. I promise you’ll do better. Then make it again and you’ll do better, then make it again and you’ll do even better….

If you’re just getting started, just get the hang of the simple technique in this video and I promise you your loaves will be just as amazing as the ones on the ‘gram.

]]>A “dopamine fast” isa fancy way thatSilicon Valley + are trying to brand the idea of taking a break from everything that makes your brain release dopamine (which essentially makes you happy) in order to break your addiction to said dopamine. In other words, we’re actually just all grumpy because we’re too happy, and we need to take breaks from being happy to remember that we’re happy. Love it. Sooooo super privileged but aren’t all self-help things? I am also in the privileged position of having , so I decided to do this creepy sounding fast asap.
(And we are all in the unprivileged position of being stuck indoors, which means it's the perfect time to teach yourself how to be naturally happier!)
Adopamine fastis typically described asno eating, no screens, no music, no exercise, no touch or sex, no work, no eye contact, and no talking more than is absolutely necessary. But the idea is that you’re cutting out as much of what stimulates you as possible; in a full dopamine fast you would be floating in space or something.
Here is what I did (lol “did” is an overstatement already). I let my phone die around 4 pm Saturday, the day before the fast. This immediately set in motion the mild panic attack that would stay with me the remainder of the weekend. I listened to so much music and got so high as if both would be never again available to me. I worked on my computer until it died and then the panic attack got more intense. I plugged the computer back in and started binge watching to ensure not one minute of restful sleep.
Then came Sunday, the day of the fast (lol again to the idea of a whole “day” of this). I woke up and meditated without a timer, which made me competitive with myself to get the timing right but then also paranoid I wasn’t getting the timing right. Surprisingly I survived this, but don’t be fooled—it wasn’t easy. I went out and got a coffee because I thought I was dying, and this is totally breaking the rules. No eye contact and lots of awkward laughter. We got back to the house and I built a fire for what felt like 17 hours but turned out to be less than an hour. I stared into the fire for another 12 hours (30 minutes). I plugged my phone in because Elana needed some photos taken but kept it on airplane mode with no wifi okay?! Jk I saw my sister texted me and I immediately facetimed her to panic about my fast, which I was already excelling at and it wasn’t even noon yet!
Okay but then I shut my phone for real and spent the next few hours rotating between staring at the fire, walking around, writing notes in a journal (all work or to-do related), getting high, and eating. Elana and I also walked through THANK GOD. But I smoked so so much you guys. Way more than normal. That’s how hard I was trying to cope with just doing nothing, while doing plenty!! And I had to eat because enough torture okay?
By8 pmI was back to Surviving R. Kelly, aka more rule-breaking.
Wow. I nailed it right? I would give myself like a 45%, a fat F. Still worth it? SO WORTH IT. Cannot even tell you. Cannot wait to do it again. I felt so much peace by the end of the day. I felt so excited to try it again soon, hopefully with more success. And on Monday--the absolute worst day of the week why does it even exist—I was incredibly productive and incredibly grateful for everything.
Do you know how amazing music is?? And your phone? And computers? Omg.
DO IT. You will do such a better job than I did, and it will be so worth it. Try to keep these tips in mind, I think they helped me!
I know it's a hard time to do anything extra. But I bet if you shut your phone or computer for a few hours you’d likeeverything more. And that’s what we’re really after amirite?

]]>This past November, I traveled from California to upstate New York for an artist residency. I was scheduled to live in the woods in a big house alone for an entire month. It was terrifying. For thepast couple of years, I had found myself deeply afraid of being by myself. I turned to my friends or my boyfriend to ensure that my evenings were filled withsomething. I always made plans to avoid being alone, though many evenings I was irritable and exhausted and should have stayed in. I even thought I might be dating someone to ward off loneliness. That’s not the kind of person I want to be. I want to be able sit with myself. I want to be able to love myself enough to be alone. The time alone was honestly a way to test myself.
Now we're all about to be tested over our ability to spend time alone.These tips are especially with people who aresingle and alone in their homes, my guess is if you're in a house full of family you'll be looking for tips on how to get some time to yourself--which you should do!
Before the residency started, I promised myself a few things: I wouldn’t use social media while working (so as not to distract myself in the middle of a thought), I would not drink unless I had a visitor, and I would wait one hour before calling someone if I felt lonely. The first night was definitely a challenge. The darkness of the woods was overwhelming, and I wasn’t yet accustomed to the house and its noises and quirks. However, when I woke up the next morning to the beauty that is fall in the Hudson Valley, the stress eased. I only felt excited and determined.
Over the next week, I could feel all my anxiety about my relationship, friendships, career, money, and the future slip away. The following week, I felt completely at peace. It wasn’t a struggle to be alone. I loved it.
If you are about to spend some time alone, set some guidelines for yourself. Look at it as a challenge for ways to improve your life. Where can you challenge yourself to take a break? What's something you can work on because you have more time? Can you set chunks of time where you really embrace being alone? Can you reward yourself somehow when you do?
Then, be patient. It gets easier over time.
Here are some things I did to keep myself company:
Usuallyit’s impossible for people with families or regular jobs to take a month out of their normal life, and while at the moment it's mostly not welcome, we can also think of the challenge as a gift. Weare all capable of making changes, figuring out how we feel our best, and adapting to our environment (this is both a good and bad quality). I’m back in Los Angeles now, and it’s stressful. I don’t feel at peace anymore. Real life is full of unexpected events that are annoying and distracting. I haven’t completely changed my life here in LA, but the shifts Imade have stuck with me.Ikeep a more consistent schedule. I keep my podcasts on at home when I’m alone. Most importantly though, because of my experience, I know I can be alone, and I like to be alone. This feeling is empowering, and it can’t be taken away.
